A smile is the prettiest thing you can wear
I got the idea for this post after taking part in Janni Hussi’s and Lotta Hintsa’s “Girl like me”-campaign for young women. It wasn’t a no makeup challenge but a smile challenge and to have the courage to really smile from the bottom of your heart. My own morning face will continue to stay away from the social media.
The girls were doing a great thing and this is why I took part. I always applaude a natural look, even though there is nothing wrong with taking care of yourself and making yourself pretty. For example I don’t think that colouring you hair is taking away your natural beauty. These are issues of taste and could be discussed indefinitely. We all have different taste and opinions when it comes to beauty. One thing that I find horrendous is that these days it is completely normal to go and have botox done on your coffee break and the people doing this are getting younger and younger. I don’t mean to be judgmental as it is everybody’s own business what they do.
Me, I am happy with myself just the way I am.
I am also going to teach my son the same values. I want to teach him to love himself and to appreciate the ones close to him just the way they are. I also want to teach him that it doesn’t matter what other people think. Only a weak and unwell person lowers himself to bad-mouth others.
On the internet it is easy to criticize others anonymously, but I don’t understand what makes someone do that. This type on criticism I’ve decided to ignore completely.
I look after my looks and I enjoy making myself pretty, but I don’t have a problem going out with less make up. The older I get, the less I care about what other people think of my looks. I am happy with myself and in my own body and that is the most important thing.
I have eyelash extensions to make my mornings quicker. I dye my otherwise nearly invisible eyebrows. I also dye my hair because I prefer being a bit darker. So it is not as if I’m a “natural freak” or anything.
It is true what they say, that you can’t love anybody else before you learn to love yourself. So love yourselves and smile from the bottom of your hearts. A smile is definitely the prettiest accessory you can have.
Hyvin ja rehellisesti kirjoitettu.
Kiitos:)
Such beautiful and meaningful words! Just lovely to read.
Thank you:)
